Bottle gourd leaf is a cultivated leafy vegetable. It is grown in the homestead area, on the bank of the pond and other high land spaces around the home. It is mainly a winter vegetable but it is grown round the year. The leaf is deep green . The flower is white.This vegetable is cooked with dry fish, fresh fish and shrimp. Vegetable soup is prepared for patients.
Medicinal properties : Children generally suffer from lesion on mouth in the winter season due to riboflavin deficiency.Cooked bottle gourd leaf mixed with hyacinth bean is offered to the children for treatment of such ailment.
